My name is Richard M. Cano. I am a graduate student at The University
of Texas at San Antonio studying digital media and
interpersonal Web 2.0 communication. Specifically, I am interested in
private and public communication boundary management and online identity
formation.
I am also a programmer and web/graphic designer. I intend to learn more
web programming languages with a small focus on open source content
management systems. I hope that others find these subjects with as much
interest as I have found in them.
My professor has come up with a brilliant way to teach digital media by using digital media in the classroom. I think this is a great idea, especially since my research interests are similar to his. Dr. Miller has come up with a model for teaching digital media in the classroom. You can read more about it at his slideshare page.
As a result, this blog was created as evidence that this methodology does in fact work. Every student in this course will produce a similar blog detailing multiple areas of digital media that the student has produced, distributed, located, collected, and conceptualized, many times producing again after the cycle has completed. To demonstrate, this blog is filled with examples of course work that have undergone the process.
